Many of our members kick off their journey with the Learn to Skate sessions at our home rink, The Steel Ice Center. As skaters progress, figure skating coaches at the rink offer essential private lessons, helping them grow, test, and compete. Watch your skills flourish as you advance through levels and achieve your competitive goals! 

Ready to take your skills to the next level? The United States Figure Skating Association offers competitions throughout the year, primarily during the figure skating season from January to July. To register, start by discussing your competition goals with your coach, who will provide insights on open competitions and what they entail. Together, you’ll create a personalized plan, including the choreography for your figure skating routine, ensuring you’re well-prepared for the exciting journey ahead! 

 Testing is a vital step for skaters as they progress in their journey! Each level in figure skating comes with its own set of skills, and passing a test allows you to advance to the next one, unlocking the opportunity to compete at higher levels. Once you successfully test out, there's no going back—your skill set has officially elevated! Embrace the challenge and watch your skating talents flourish! 

Off-ice training is a crucial component for figure skaters looking to enhance their performance!  Incorporating yoga, stretching, ballet, and specialized workout programs into your routine can make a significant difference. Our Penguin Figure Skating Club encourages you to consult your coach to develop the perfect off-ice training plan tailored to your needs. Figure skating requires clothing that allows for freedom of movement, so look for soft, breathable, and warm outfits often available in matching sets of pants and jackets. Don't forget to visit our online store for a variety of options! Additionally, purchasing figure skating socks, gloves, and outerwear is essential to keep your skaters warm during practice. For beginners, wearing a helmet is strongly recommended to ensure safety while honing those skills. Dress smart, skate strong!
